Senior Accountant

We are a SAAS company in Washington D.C. specializing in legal tech, currently experiencing rapid growth. We are looking for full time, Senior Accountant to join our accounting and finance team in Washington, D.C reporting to the Financial Controller. This will be a hybrid role with 2 – 3 times a week in the office. The candidate will support the financial needs of the accounting team and will be the key contributor for full cycle accounting functions. The ideal candidate should be proactive & self-motivated, demonstrate a propensity for learning, a team player and ability to work effectively with team in all levels of the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Key contributor to the month-end/year-end accounting close activities
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, adjusting entries as necessary
  • Experience reconciling Balance Sheet accounts such as Cash, Prepaid and Accrued Expenses
  • Work with Financial Controller to establish accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP 
  • Generate accurate customer invoices on a timely basis, review AR aging and perform collection follow ups as needed
  • Manage Royalty process, including generating reports on timely basis and processing royalty payments
  • Access financial information and conduct independent research to answer questions, disseminate or explain information to customers, vendors, or employees
  • Process customer check deposits and accurately apply payments
  • Act as the primary point of contact for A/P, including processing vendor bill payments and filling 1099
  • Assist with Sales Tax, including state registrations. Reconcile Sales Tax liability account
  • Contribute to multiple system integrations

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with NetSuite is required. Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Intacct, Blackline preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Excel, ability to efficiently work with large data and perform analysis (V-lookups, Pivot Tables)
  • Understanding of GAAP and ability to apply basic accounting concepts
  • 3-5 years of corporate accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
  • Must be a problem solving, self-starter who possesses effective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to be persistent, yet supportive to perform the above responsibilities.
