The first full day of sessions kicked off with a keynote from Patrick Schwerdtfeger that was curiously lacking in focus on our profession but quickly transitioned into what ILTA does best … educate. Sessions on working with Manged Service Providers, Change Management, a Microsoft company update and a late PM discussion on the annual ILTA Lit Support survey were highlights for me.
The best thing about ILTA education sessions? Real users talking about real problems and, even better, real solutions. This is hands down the best conference for getting answers. As my old friend and colleague Russ Aoki likes to say, “Anybody can tell me my problem. I call you becasue you give me solutions.” ILTACON gives us all solutions.
Ended my day with the ACEDS reception hosted by Reveal where I was honored to give a tribute to our dear departed co-conspirator in mischief, Browning Marean who left us 8 years ago yesterday. And then on to the opening of the exhibit hall and annual costume competition. Seemed like all 1500+ member attendees were there and the excitment about being back together again was palpable.
The end , you ask? But Tom, what about the Brainspace party, the rooftop bar, the hanging in the lobby bar? I’ll close with the immortal words of wisdom from Browning … “nothing good happens at a conference after dessert.”
