DuPage County Attorney Azam Nizamuddin Appointed to the Commission on Professionalism

The Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism is pleased to announce that the Illinois Supreme Court has appointed Azam Nizamuddin to serve as a Commissioner on the Commission on Professionalism.

Additionally, Heather Kroencke, Kathleen Pine, and Trisha Rich have been reappointed as Commissioners for terms ending December 31, 2025.

“I am excited to welcome Azam to the Commission and to continue working with Heather, Kathleen, and Trisha,” said Martin Sinclair, Chair of the Commission on Professionalism. “Azam has distinguished himself within the legal community through his involvement and leadership with bar associations and CLE presentations. Likewise, our reappointed Commissioners have made an impact throughout the state by promoting the Commission’s values of professionalism and civility through their work and conduct.”

Nizamuddin is a Managing Partner at Martoccio and Martoccio in Hinsdale, where he practices personal injury, real estate, and family law.

Before joining Martoccio and Martoccio, Nizamuddin served as a trial lawyer and litigator for 18 years for D’Ancona & Pflaum, Regas, Frezados and Harp, and as a solo practitioner. He has also served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Allied Asset Advisors and NAIT.

Nizamuddin has been an active member of several bar associations. He is a founding member and former president of the Muslim Bar Association. He currently serves as Chair of the Appellate Law Section of the DuPage County Bar Association (DCBA), is the former Chair of the Civil Law Section of the DCBA and the former Editor in Chief of the DCBA Journal, the Brief, and has presented several CLEs on behalf of the DCBA. Nizamuddin is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association.

Heather Kroencke is a partner at Zanck, Coen, Wright & Saladin, PC in Crystal Lake, where she focuses her practice on estate planning, estate administration, and real estate. She has served on the Commission since 2022.

Kathleen Pine has more than 35 years of experience representing hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice cases in Illinois and Missouri. She was a shareholder at Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard P.C., retiring in 2022. She was appointed to the Commission in 2021.

Trisha Rich is a partner and Co-Chair of the Legal Profession Team in the Chicago office of Holland & Knight LLP, where she practices litigation, legal ethics, and professional responsibility law. She has served on the Commission since 2017.
